South of Beale just started serving lunch a few weeks ago. (I went twice in one week.)
Here’s their “dog,” a wild boar sausage with roasted red peppers and mustard slaw.
Sausage po boy and potato salad from The Green Beetle. Submitted by my fiancé, who went to lunch near my office and did not invite me.
Dublin Coddle from The Brass Door in Memphis, TN. Poached bangers, potatoes, onions, bacon and cabbage with whole-grain mustard. Totally out-of-the-ordinary for someone who usually gets a sandwich or sliders there, but this was really good! Like them on Facebook for their daily specials.
On my most recent visit (late July) I learned that burgers are trendy in NOLA right now. This spot, Tru Burger, opened on Oak Street in June to a lot of hype. The beef is ground in-house and the patties are hand-formed and served on Leidenheimer buns.
I scrapped the standard accoutrements (lettuce, tomato etc) in favor of a fried egg, bacon and avocado. That turned out to be more than the bun could handle. It was one of those burgers that you have to hold for the entire duration of your meal, because if you put it down it’ll just fall apart.
But it was damn tasty. And so were the fries.
This is the Nashville Dog, of Hot Diggity Dogs in (get this) Nashville, TN.

Steak teriyaki bento from Tokyo Grill in Memphis. Crazy deal, all that food is like $12 total I think.
