#44: Vermicelli with pork, shrimp and eggroll
My fiancé ordered pho ga and I ordered this, the equivalent to my standard order at Pho Vietnam, the #77 (click to compare). The portion may have been a little smaller—but the pork was more tender and as you can see, the mint was fresher. I prefer the atmosphere and the service at Pho Vietnam, but Pho Saigon wins in a head-to-head vermicelli battle.

Free-food-at-work lunchbrag: Every year my company gets BBQ catered from Rendezvous the day before Christmas Eve. This one’s a little sentimental because it was my last “Rendezvous day” before I start my new job in January. On my plate are pulled pork, sausage and cheese, and slaw. And don’t worry, I didn’t eat it all.

BBQ nachos from A&R BBQ (downtown), Memphis, TN
Again, A&R usually isn’t my first choice for BBQ. But it’s right next to my office. I had gone to a basketball game with a friend the night before and sat in the full service seats where people actually bring you food and beer and swipe your credit card right there in front of you. It’s quite luxurious, or it would be if they served BBQ nachos down there, and frankly I don’t understand why they don’t.
Long story short I was so disappointed that i didn’t get (Neely’s) BBQ nachos I had some for lunch the next day.
The meat was good on these but the sauce is a little too sweet. For good BBQ nachos the sauce needs to be a little spicy, which is why Central BBQ’s nachos are the best in my book.

ed: For what it’s worth, i took my cousin both to here and to The Bar-B-Q Shop, and she liked the Commissary’s nachos better. Also they do a good Thanksgiving turkey.

This is the pork tenderloin sandwich from Joensy’s in Solon, Iowa.

After some research I’ve deduced first that Iowa is noted for their breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches and second that this place purports to have the biggest and best. The “biggest” part appears to be true, as you can see one bun does not come close to containing this slab of breaded pork. 
My immediate, knee-jerk, unabashedly Southern opinion on this sandwich is that it looks like it could use some BBQ sauce.

On November 2nd, McDonald’s will be selling the legendary McRib sandwichat outlets across the U.S. for the first time in 16 years. It’ll be available for only “six weeks or so” according to the Chicago Tribune.

Now, I live in Memphis so I have no good reason to eat a McRib. Yet I tried one last year while en route to St. Louis. Sure, I’d prefer actual ribs over fast-food anything, but I didn’t hate it. 

Who’s excited about the return of this processed pork delicacy?
